🎄Christmas in the Park and Parade Info 🎄

Hey Scout Families!

This Saturday is Christmas in the Park and the Whitehouse Christmas Parade. Below are details for each.

Christmas in the Park

We will have a booth set up to sell flag subscriptions and will have an archery game for kids, as well as materials to make homemade cards to deliver to Prestige when we go Caroling on the 17th. This is a great opportunity to help fundraise for the Pack, especially if you're not able to help deliver or pick up flags. It's also a great opportunity for your scout to share their love of scouting with all the visitors in the park. Market hours are from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with set-up beginning at 7:00 am. We already have volunteers scheduled to help with set-up (thank you!), but we still need volunteers to cover the booth for the following time slots:

  • 9:00 am – 10:15 am (2 slots)
  • 10:15 am – 11:30 am (2 slots)
  • 11:30 am – 12:45 pm (2 slots)
  • 12:45 pm – 2:00 pm (1 slot)
  • 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm (2 slots – this includes booth tear down, so we only need parents during this time as scouts will be needed at the parade lineup)

If one of these slots works for you, please sign up HERE

The booths will not be in the park this year, rather at the corner of FM 346 and Bascom Rd. Our booth is #61, right at the east entrance to the park.

Christmas Parade

This year's theme is Sounds of Christmas – we have chosen “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” and “Mele Kalikimaka”.  Scouts need to be in their Class A uniforms with closed-toe shoes, and are encouraged to wear Santa hats, leis, grass skirts, or any accessories that fit a Hawaiian Christmas theme! 🏝️🌺🎅

The Parade starts at 3:30 pm. We are asking Scouts (and Adult Partners for Lions and Tigers, though other parents are invited to participate as well!) to be at the line-up at 2:30 pm. All scouts need to be checked in with an adult leader. Judging for Judge's Favorite, Best Portrayal of Parade Theme, and Most Creative begins at 3, so we want everyone in place for a chance to win (if chosen, we get to display a banner in the parade!). LINE UP WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE JUNIOR HIGH PARKING LOT AND PICK UP CIRCLE. We are number 26 in the parade order, which will be right in front of the Junior High. Vehicles that are not in the parade, please do not enter the line-up area.  Participants may park in the Home Side stadium parking lot and that is where parent drop-offs will need to take place. The parade will exit on Bain and turn left onto FM 346, traveling to the High School.

*** A MAJOR CHANGE ***   – Per the request of the Whitehouse Police Department, all floats with riders/walkers and any other non-street legal vehicles will be escorted back to the Junior High following the parade. Parade participant pickup will be at the Junior High, NOT at the High School as has been done in the past. SCOUTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE WITHOUT A PARENT/GUARDIAN PRESENT, THEY MUST BE CHECKED OUT BY THEIR PARENT.

Parade etiquette:

  • Please keep approximately 20 – 30 feet between you and the group in front of you.
  • NO group shall stop nor otherwise slow the parade procession.  Please move your group along so that there is a good flow and no gaps in the parade.
  • You may NOT throw candy to the crowd.  If you wish to hand out candy, you must have individuals walking beside your float to pass out candy or other materials.

Attached is a vendor map for the park and map of the parade lineup. Again, we are booth #61 and are #26 in the parade.

See you Saturday!!!
