Mom & Me Registration & Dates, Rose Parade, & BEAR CARNIVAL info!!

Hello Bear Scout Families!

Just following up on some announcements from our Den Meeting Tuesday.  We will be sending Mr. Muddy Waters a thank you card from the Den for his help with our knife sharpening activities and his very neat “show & tell” collection.

MOM & ME –  Friday October 22nd through Sunday October 24th at Camp Pirtle near Carthage – The registration deadline is October 15th!

This event is an all-inclusive, Mom focused activity. Our goal is to give moms the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities and have some fun with their cub scouts. Cubs and Adult Participants should register using the form below. Participants will be fed and receive a patch. You will have the option to order a T-Shirt as an add-on fee in your registration process.   Only a $20 Deposit for your family – register on our etacpack359.org webpage – we are registering as a Pack.

This Saturday 10/16 – ROSE PARADE: Scouts will need to meet at the corner of Front and Vine street at 7:45 am on Saturday, October 16th.  The Parade will start promptly at 9 am.  Please have older scouts wear good walking shoes.  Lions and tigers will ride on the trailer.  We lead off the Parade with all the flags – you can get to use later than 7:45 am, but the later it gets the harder it is to park or get to us because the roads will start being blocked off.  The parade will end at ROSE STADIUM where you can pick up your scout if you are not walking/riding with us!  ALL SCOUTS and leaders/parents should have a pack T-shirt or Uniform on IF POSSIBLE so we look “professional!”

Den Meeting on October 19 – Bear Scouts have to put on an event for the Pack as part of their Achievements so we are providing the BEAR CARNIVAL.  Because our Scouts will be running the carnival they won't get to “play” very much on the 25th, so we are having a practice night on the 19th.  Everyone bring the game you and your Scout will have for Carnival – a couple of cornhole games and a ladder-ball game were mentioned.   If you have any of the “giant” yard games like Tic-tac-toe that would be good.  We could also a Fishing game, bowling, or any of the “Carnival” type games you see on the Fair midway.  If  you would like to donate a bag of candy or treats that would be helpful also – the pack is going to help us with more and I've already purchased some chinese finger-traps, scratch-off joke cards, jumping frogs, fangs, etc.

We will sort out how to set up the carnival so everyone can set up their game prior to the Pack meeting so we will be ready to go as soon as the awards are finished.  The boys are going to practice explaining their games and allowing each other to play, we will practice another step in knife safety, and I need to check off all the Scouts that will earn their Bobcat at the Pack Meeting on the 25th.  Exciting stuff!!
