NO Den Meeting This Week – Work on Duty to God Advancement and your Pinewood Derby Car!!

Den 4 will NOT meet this week – I have major grant deadlines at work this Wednesday – will be working around the clock to get those done – and of course start school both at TJC and UT Tyler.  So far nobody has mentioned major conflicts (YET) with Tuesdays or Sunday afternoons – remember to let me know about practices, game nights, school events, etc. as we move through the spring.

Scouts have 3 ASSIGNMENTS for NEXT WEEK 1/24 – We will be working on First Aid on 1/24 at WUMC!

#1 – Everyone be sure to complete the “Duty to God and You” handout I passed out before Christmas – if your handout has disappeared here are the three questions families should discuss with their Scout. Scouts should write out the answers and bring them next week.)

1. Discuss with your parent, guardian, den leader, or other caring adult what it means to do your duty to God. Tell how you do your duty to God in your daily life.

2. Discuss with your family, family’s faith leader, or other caring adult how planning and participating in a service of worship or reflection helps you live your duty to God. Who did you discuss this with?

3. List one thing that will bring you closer to doing your duty to God, and practice it for one month. Write down what you will do each day to remind you.
What did you choose? _______________________________________________________
What will remind you? _______________________________________________________
When did you do this? From: __________________ To:

We will review contents of a basic first aid kit when we do our last required Advancement – “First Responder” and practice first aid skills at an upcoming meeting.

#2 – If your Scout did not hike at Rose-Rudman with us, you need to plan out a 3-mile hike for Scout & Parent/Family to accomplish in the next week or two – “Webelos Walkabout” and review of the 4 points of the Scouting Outdoor Code and the idea behind “Leave No Trace” is an Advancement necessary for Webelos Rank.  I had lots more Outdoor Code Detail in last week's message.

Outdoor Code
As an American, I will do my best to
Be Clean in my Outdoor Manners,
Be Careful with Fire,
Be Considerate in the outdoors, and
Be Conservation Minded.

#3 – Work on those Pinewood Derby Cars – remember you should sign up for a “Build Day” spot through a link on the Pack Website www.etacpack359.com and Scouts should arrive at Build Day this Saturday with a car pattern already thought up! Build Day is AWESOME – Randall Robinson sets up sanders, saws, and all the equipment you ever wanted to cut out and prep the wheels for a great car!! I believe I heard that this year's Theme is “Monster Mash Dash” – I can't wait to see where our Scouts go with this!!!
